About Alexandra Drane
Alexandra is co-founder and CEO of ARCHANGELS — a women-owned, public benefit corporation and omni-channel platform shamelessly hustling to make change happen for the 43% of adults across our nation serving as unpaid caregivers. ARCHANGELS engages and supports caregivers across all 50 states through partnerships with employers, consumer brands, health-plans/systems, communities, and states.
Alex co-founded Rebel Health, Eliza Corporation (acquired by HMS Holdings Corp: HMSY, now Cotiviti), Engage with Grace, and three other companies (all boot-strapped). A serial entrepreneur ever looking for opportunities to connect with people, she worked as a cashier and then customer service specialist for Walmart store 2660 from October 2016 through April 2018. She believes communities are the frontline of health, that caregivers are our country’s greatest asset, and that we need to expand the definition of health to include life.
A strong champion for the power of public-private partnerships, Alex sits on boards where she can help influence policy and advocacy efforts as well as working directly with states. Her board roles include the Joint Commission Resources Board of Directors, RAND Social and Economic Policy Advisory Board, Vice Chair of the Trustee Advisory Board at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and she is a founding member of the Board of Directors of C-TAC. She also serves on Harvard Medical School’s Executive Council of the Division of Sleep Medicine, the Board of Advisors for Boston Children’s Hospital Innovation and Digital Health Accelerator, Lake Nona Impact Forum and OpenNotes Lab, as well as the Entrepreneurs Council for The United States of Care. She also spent seven years as a Governor-appointed member of the Executive Committee for the Board of Directors for Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. Efforts with states include Any Care Counts Campaigns currently active in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, with others in process.
Alex is recognized by many awards including being named to the first ever Care100 list, a VNA Care Hero, a Top Women in Healthcare’s Entrepreneur of the Year, one of Disruptive Women in Health Care’s Women to Watch, one of Boston Globe’s Top 100 Women Leaders, and the Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40.” She is asked to speak nationally and internationally at venues including CNN Life Itself, National news broadcasts including ABC World News and NPR, TEDMED, HLTH, NCQA, Aging 2.0, the National Academies, and other Fortune 50 industry events. She is also an inventor on numerous patents and has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, including publications with the CDC, the Journal of Affective Disorders, and NEJM Catalyst. Alex joined Prudential Financial as their national host and wellness expert for their national ad campaign that generated over two billion impressions, “The State of US.”
Outside of healthcare, she enjoys car racing, fiercely loving on family, friends, neighbors (and sometimes even strangers — because what’s a stranger!?), and living into the joyful belief that ‘the adventure begins when it all goes wrong’ (Yvonne Chouinard).
